Weeks Dye Works thread - Weeks Dye Works
Weeks Dye Works - hand over-dyed 6 stranded embroidery floss
Miranda Weeks McGahey started dying fabric in her bathtub in 1994 and now employs 10 full time people and 9 part time in an 8,200 sq ft facility, dyeing tens of thousands of yards of thread a day.
With nearly 600 colour/fibre combinations, they use a recipe book to try to keep the colours consistent, but everything from the temperature of the water to the humidity in the air affects the final result. There are no dye lots, but that's not the point of using these wonderful, hand over-dyed threads. Despite that, they still strive to offer the best colour consistency in the industry.
We currently stock every colour (even the retired ones) in the Weeks Dye Works 6 stranded cotton range and have a few of the 5 and 8 perle cotton colours. We also stock some of the Weeks Dye Works hand felted wools for use in our SamSarah Design Studio patterns. What we don't have, we'll happily get (we want to stock them all eventually, anyway).
